Are you fed up with the dire state of public debate and do you feel powerless to make a positive change in the world?
The rise of political polarisation, toxic public debates and a lack of trust is eroding democratic institutions across the world. Against this backdrop many citizens feel powerless to have a meaningful impact in their community or tackle global challenges such as climate change, armed conflict, and economic inequality. The foundation for dealing with these myriad challenges is the ability to handle conflicts effectively, by looking beyond our own instinctive reactions to events, understanding what drives others, and reaching out to those with whom we disagree. Armed with these tools we can all become empowered to take meaningful action in contributing to deeper peace in our societies.
Initiated by the Institute for Global Negotiation (IGN), a non-profit association based in Zurich that promotes and supports the use of negotiation as an essential tool in building a more equitable, peaceful, and sustainable world, the Center of Social Competence as part of a network of institutions around the globe is offering an in-person workshop on September 22nd from 10 to 1 on the occasion of International Day of Peace (September 21st) and a follow-up online event on October 24th from 2 to 4 p.m.to celebrate United Nations Day.
