The "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" was adopted by the United Nations in 2015. With this agenda, the 193 member countries, and thus also Austria, commit themselves to working together at regional, national and international level to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The focus is thus on transforming our world into an economically, socially and ecologically sustainable society.
Education is one of the essential prerequisites for fulfilling the entire 2030 Agenda, and education therefore has a key role to play in working towards the vision of a just, peaceful and sustainable society.
...And what does the Center for Social Competence have to do with it?
At the Center for Social Competence, we not only share and support the goals of the Agenda, but work proactively to implement them. By now consciously addressing the supported goals, we also aim to increase the visibility of the commitment that is still needed.
In any case, of the 17 Agenda goals, there are six that are consciously propagated in the course of the work and by way of the Center's mission. The realization of goals or sub-goals can be located - in addition to a fundamental anchoring in the mission of the center - in the core areas of teaching, research, event management, and personnel/collaborations.
